PRAYING FOR VEGAS AND ALL THE OTHER SHOOTING VICTIMS IN THE U.S.
Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017
Tuesday night, the prayers of many Brooklynites, religious, and political leaders traveled directly from east to west and from coast to coast in memory of those lives lost during the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Vegas on Sunday, October 1st.
“One of the worst things about being an elected official is that we go to too many funerals as a result of senseless gun violence,” Public Advocate for the City of New York Letitia James said during her speech at the vigil.
“Sadly, we know that our prayers are not enough, there are just not enough, and our prayers will never bring back the lives lost, so after we finish praying, after we finish with mourning, after we finish with all our grief, we have to get out of our knees and unclasp our hands and demand action from Washington. That is what we have to do." "We have to demand action that could stop this preventable tragedy", she added.
She finished her speech by saying, “It is an indisputable proof that America’s easy access to guns helps empower ruthless killers to shoot our young and innocent people before they have a chance to truly live.”
