NE-YO PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE U.S. TROOPS AT FORT HAMILTON
Saturday, July 2nd, 2011
American singer, songwriter, and record producer Ne-Yo came to Brooklyn to honor the U.S. troops. The historic Fort Hamilton Army Base hosted a memorable and successful Independence Day Celebration on July 2nd, 2011.
This exclusive event hosted more than 4,000 attendees, including soldiers and their families, active duty service members, retirees, veterans, DOD civilians, NYPD and FDNY first responders.
“I am extremely proud to work with FMWR to bring live music to the troops and their families,” said Shaffer Chimere Smith, best known as Ne-Yo. “We hope to entertain them while we bring attention to the fact that military families also give a great personal sacrifice. They sometimes are forgotten in the big picture.”
A couple of hours before he jumped onto the stage, Ne-Yo spent a good amount of time taking pictures and interacting with soldiers and their families, active duty service members, and NYPD/ FDNY first responders. His outstanding performance, friendly attitude, and charming personality honored the U.S. troops with an energetic and memorable closing act.
